Duck race cheque presentation

On Wednesday 29th July 2009 CALM chairman Richard Crowley attended a breakfast meeting of the Rotary Club of Swindon, Old Town to collect a cheque from this year's Great Swindon Duck Race.

This year all the money raised at the event on the late May Bank Holiday was split 50-50 between the Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Movement and Rotary Charities.  Richard was presented with a cheque for £5,725.

The money will be be put into a fund to re-new the convalescent caravan in Tenby when it comes up to the end of its 3 year cycle.  The cost of trading-in and upgrading the caravan will be approx £24,000.  With the money raised from the Duck Race, and funds raised by XXIV Squadron at RAF Lyneham, CALM is now half way towards reaching the target for this project.

CALM Chairman Richard Crowley said:  "I am very gratful for all the hard work and support that the Rotary Club of Old Town has given to CALM over the last 3-4 years.  We have made many friends, and this year the sun even came out for the Duck Race!  I'm sure that made a real difference to the fundraising efforts on the day, and to receive a cheque for almost £6,000 is simply amazing."
