FORMER Swindon Town players Phil King and Michael Pook and ex-Town and Swindon Supermarine chairman Cliff Puffett were among those who took part in the CALM golf day at Wrag Barn.

The Swindon-based children’s cancer and leukaemia charity raised more than £4,000 from the annual event, which saw 17 teams take part in a nine-hole Texas Scramble followed by an 18-hole stableford competition.

Splits into two groups for the earlier format, Byron’s Bandits took the honours on the front nine, with Aldi Aces triumphing on the back nine.

Itel Electronics picked up the main prize of the day, the CALM Golf Shield, winning the afternoon stableford, with their team member Ben Mapson winning the prize for the best individual score. Deputy Mayor of Swindon Rex Barnett and his wife Sandra, plus Rodrigo Villegas from event sponsors Andalucia Marketing UK Ltd, handed over the prizes.

CALM chairman Richard Crowley said: “To have 17 teams taking part, and to raise in the region of £4,000 is a magnificent result given the current financial climate.”
