CALM is Pride of Swindon

What a fantastic afternoon for the CALM team at the Steam Museum in Swindon on Thursday.

Our treasurer of more than 17 years David Elliss was nominated for an individual honour at the Pride of Swindon Awards and the whole CALM team was nominated for an honour in the team awards.

David was first up to receive his nomination certificate from the Leader of Swindon Borough Council Cllr Roderick Bluh.

Then it was the turn of the whole CALM team to receive the team nomination certificate.

After a break for tea and cake the CALM team then received one of only 4 main team honours  from the Mayor of Swindon Cllr Mick Bray.

To cap the afternoon off CALM received a cheque from the Zurich Community Trust.

This was a result of a vote amongst attendees at the awards ceremony.

CALM would like to thank all the organisers of the event, particularly the Swindon Advertiser, Swindon 105.5FM, Swindon Borough Council and the Zurich Community Trust.

CALM would also like to thank former Mayor of Swindon Cllr Rex Barnett and Cllr Claire Ellis for nominating CALM for the Pride of Swindon Awards.

It was lovely to catch up with Rex and his wife Sandra, along with Kathy Smith.

During Rex's year as Mayor he and his committee of helpers raised more than £15,000 for CALM and he has been a great supporter of our charity over recent years.
